Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kilimanjaro Airport → Lake Manyara

Your guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro Airport and drive with you to Lake Manyara. Along the way you will see your first views of northern Tanzania, from Arusha to the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. At the lake you move into your accommodation and unwind for the rest of the day.

  2. Day 2

    Lake Manyara → Karatu

In the morning you set off on a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. You drive through groundwater forest, open grasslands and marshland as far as the shore of the lake, keeping a lookout for elephants, giraffes and the tree-climbing lions. In the afternoon you continue to Karatu, your base for the Ngorongoro Crater.

  3. Day 3

    Ngorongoro

Early in the morning you descend with your guide to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. You spend the whole day on a game drive between grassland, patches of woodland, swamps and the alkaline lake. You are very likely to encounter lions, elephants and herds of buffalo here, and the chances of seeing a black rhino are good too. In the evening you drive back to your accommodation.

  4. Day 4

    Karatu → Serengeti

Today you leave Karatu and drive to the Serengeti, Tanzania's best-known national park. The route leads through open savannah, and the first game drive begins along the way. Keep a lookout for lions, leopards and elephants before you reach your accommodation in the park in the evening.

  5. Day 5

    Serengeti

A full day in the Serengeti: you set off early in the morning on the first game drive, when the light is soft and the animals are active. Around Seronera, river valleys and acacia landscapes alternate; lions, cheetahs and elephants are at home here all year round. In the late afternoon you head out on another game drive.

  6. Day 6

    Serengeti

The second full day is also spent in the Serengeti. Depending on the season, you and your guide look for the large herds of wildebeest and zebra as they move through the park on their migration. Hippos and Nile crocodiles lie in the rivers, and with a lot of luck you may even see a rhino.

  7. Day 7

    Serengeti

In the morning your guide takes you to the airstrip in Seronera. From there you fly back to Arusha and are taken to Kilimanjaro Airport. There you begin your journey home, and your safari comes to an end.

Nkoaranga Orphanage

The Nkoaranga orphanage at the foot of Mount Meru has existed since 1997; around 30 children up to the age of three live there with 12 carers. Instead of a fixed contribution, Wildfinder Safaris regularly buys supplies for the orphanage: groceries, toiletries and similar items.
