Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arusha

Your guide will be waiting for you at Kilimanjaro Airport and will drive you to Arusha. Arusha is the starting point of your safari. You check in at your accommodation and rest after your journey. The next morning you head to the first national park.

  2. Day 2

    Arusha → Tarangire

In the morning you leave Arusha and drive with your guide to Tarangire National Park. Mighty baobabs and the Tarangire River shape the landscape of the park. On your first game drive you look out for herds of elephants, zebras, giraffes and buffalo, and with a bit of luck you will also see lions.

  3. Day 3

    Tarangire

The whole day is devoted to Tarangire National Park. With your guide you follow the river, which carries water even in the dry season and attracts the park's animals. This way you can watch elephants drinking and bathing, and with a bit of luck you will see a leopard resting in an acacia tree.

  4. Day 4

    Tarangire → Karatu

After two days in Tarangire National Park, the drive continues to Karatu. The town lies close to the Ngorongoro Crater and is your starting point for the descent into the crater the next day.

  5. Day 5

    Ngorongoro

Early in the morning you descend with your guide to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Between grassland, swamps and the alkaline lake live lions, elephants, buffalo and wildebeest, and the chances of seeing a black rhino are good. Depending on the water level, flamingos gather at the lake. After the full-day game drive you return to your accommodation.

  6. Day 6

    Ndutu

Your journey continues to Ndutu and the southern Serengeti. In the rainy season, large herds of wildebeest and zebras gather on the open grasslands. From January to March the wildebeest calve here, and you will see the herds with their newborn calves.

  7. Day 7

    Ndutu

You spend the whole day travelling between Ndutu and the southern Serengeti. Your guide takes you to the herds that gather on the short grasslands during the calving season. You watch wildebeest and zebras with their calves and have time to follow the action at your leisure.

  8. Day 8

    Ndutu

Today you explore the plains between Ndutu and the southern Serengeti again. Where the herds graze, predators are never far away: lions, cheetahs and hyenas follow the wildebeest and zebras. With a bit of luck you will watch a cheetah hunting on the open plain.

  9. Day 9

    Ndutu

Your last full day in the south starts early, because the animals are particularly active in the morning and late afternoon and the light is soft. Your guide chooses the route according to where the herds are at the time. This gives you good conditions for watching wildlife and taking photos.

  10. Day 10

    Central Serengeti

You drive to the central Serengeti and spend the day on a game drive. Around Seronera, river valleys, acacia landscapes and rock formations alternate, and this area is home to abundant wildlife all year round. With a bit of luck you will see lions, a leopard by the river or cheetahs on the open plains.

  11. Day 11

    Central Serengeti → Arusha

In the morning it is time to say goodbye to the Serengeti. You fly from an airstrip in the park back to Arusha, and from there a transfer takes you to Kilimanjaro Airport. This is where your journey home begins.

Nkoaranga Orphanage

The Nkoaranga orphanage at the foot of Mount Meru has existed since 1997; around 30 children up to the age of three live there with 12 carers. Instead of a fixed contribution, Wildfinder Safaris regularly buys supplies for the orphanage: groceries, toiletries and similar items.
