Location and surroundings
Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge sits on higher ground at the edge of Karatu. From the lodge you look out over the Marera Valley and the surrounding hills. The surroundings are rural and quiet, and walks make a pleasant break between game drives. You can reach the gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in around 30 minutes, and Lake Manyara National Park is similarly close. The lodge is therefore a good starting point for safaris into the Ngorongoro Crater and to the other parks in the region.
You can find further lodges and camps in the area on the Karatu accommodation page.
Rooms and facilities
The lodge’s 24 rooms are located in separate cottages spread across the grounds, with family cottages also available. Each room has its own bathroom, a seating area and a veranda overlooking the landscape. The furnishings are simple and kept in warm colours. The main area houses the restaurant with a terrace and the bar, and in the lounge a fireplace provides warmth on cool evenings. The pool also offers views over the valley. Meals are served in the restaurant on a full-board basis.
