Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arusha

Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro Airport and drives you to Arusha. The private transfer takes you to your accommodation, where you can arrive at your own pace and recover from the journey. Arusha is the starting point of your safari through northern Tanzania.

  2. Day 2

    Arusha National Park

In the morning you set off with your guide on the first game drive in Arusha National Park. Giraffes, buffalo and zebras graze on the open grasslands, and colobus monkeys live in the montane forest. In the afternoon you explore the park on a guided walking safari, with views of Mount Meru and the Momella Lakes.

  3. Day 3

    Arusha → Tarangire

After breakfast you leave Arusha and drive with your guide to Tarangire National Park. There you begin your first game drive through the savannah with its mighty baobabs. Look out for elephant herds, lions and giraffes, which you will often see in this park.

  4. Day 4

    Tarangire

A whole day in Tarangire National Park lies ahead of you. You follow the Tarangire River, which carries water even in the dry season and then attracts particularly large numbers of animals. At midday there is a picnic in the park, then the game drive continues. Besides elephants and buffalo, you can see the greater kudu and the fringe-eared oryx here, two species that are rare in the other parks of the north.

  5. Day 5

Tarangire → Lake Manyara → Karatu

After breakfast you drive to Lake Manyara National Park. On the game drive you move between dense groundwater forest, open grassland and the shore of the alkaline lake. With a bit of luck you will see the famous tree-climbing lions; elephants, buffalo and hippos also live here. In the afternoon you continue to Karatu, where you reach your accommodation in the evening.

  6. Day 6

    Lake Eyasi

Today the focus is on the cultures around Lake Eyasi. You visit the Hadzabe, learn more about their traditional way of life and can take part in their daily activities. You also visit the Datoga and their blacksmiths and discover their traditional craft.

  7. Day 7

    Karatu → Western Serengeti

After breakfast you set off for the western Serengeti, and the drive through the northern landscape is part of the experience. In the Western Corridor, denser vegetation and several river systems await you. On the first game drive you look out for lions and elephants as well as hippos and Nile crocodiles in the rivers.

  8. Day 8

    Western Serengeti

The whole day belongs to the western Serengeti. On extended game drives in the morning and afternoon you observe the region's wildlife at a relaxed pace. Depending on the season, the herds of wildebeest and zebras move through the Western Corridor, and predators are also regularly on the move here.

  9. Day 9

    Central Serengeti

The journey continues to the central Serengeti. Around Seronera, river valleys, acacia landscapes and striking rock formations alternate, and wildlife is particularly abundant here all year round. On the game drive you can see lions and elephants and, with a bit of luck, a leopard on the rocks or along the rivers.

  10. Day 10

    Central Serengeti

Another day in the central Serengeti gives you time to explore new areas around Seronera. Game drives in the early morning and late afternoon offer soft light and particularly active animals. Perhaps you will also see the large herds of wildebeest and zebra that move through the park over the course of the year.

  11. Day 11

    Southern Serengeti

Today's game drive takes you into the southern Serengeti with its vast, open grasslands. Cheetahs hunt on these plains, and lions and hyenas can also be seen here. From January to March the wildebeest calve in the Ndutu region in the south, when the herds gather on the short grass plains.

  12. Day 12

    Southern Serengeti → Karatu

After the days in the Serengeti you head back to Karatu. The rest of the day is yours to relax at your accommodation and reflect on the impressions of the safari. The next morning you continue from here to the Ngorongoro Crater.

  13. Day 13

    Ngorongoro

Early in the morning you descend with your guide to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Between grassland, swamps and the alkaline lake you spend the day on a game drive. Lions, elephants, buffalo and wildebeest live here all year round, and in the crater you have a very good chance of seeing the endangered black rhino.

  14. Day 14

    Karatu → Arusha

Your safari ends with the return drive from Karatu to Arusha. From there the private transfer takes you to the airport in good time for your return flight. You leave Tanzania with memories of two weeks of wildlife viewing in five parks.
