Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arusha

Your guide is waiting for you when you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and drives you straight to Arusha. There you check into your accommodation and have time to recover from the journey and settle in. Your honeymoon begins with a quiet first evening.

  2. Day 2

    Arusha

In the morning you take part in a coffee tour: on a walk through the plantations you learn how coffee is grown and traditionally processed in Tanzania. In the afternoon you go on a walking safari around Arusha, where your guide shows you the local flora and fauna. In the evening you return to your accommodation.

  3. Day 3

    Arusha → Tarangire → Karatu

In the morning you drive with your guide to Tarangire National Park, where mighty baobabs shape the savannah and the Tarangire River is the region's most important water source. On the game drive you look out for elephant herds, buffalo, zebras and lions. In the late afternoon you leave the park and continue to Karatu.

  4. Day 4

    Karatu

The day in Karatu is yours. After the first few days on safari you have time to relax at your accommodation and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the town. This way you start the onward journey to the Serengeti refreshed.

  5. Day 5

    Karatu → Serengeti

In the morning you set off from Karatu to the Serengeti, Tanzania's best-known national park. The drive itself leads through the vast landscapes of the north, and in the park you take a first game drive through the heart of the Serengeti. With a bit of luck you will see zebras, giraffes and elephants.

  6. Day 6

    Serengeti

The day belongs entirely to the Serengeti. You are out on game drives in the early morning and late afternoon, when the light is soft and the animals are particularly active. You look out for lions, leopards on the rock formations and cheetahs in the open plains. Hyenas and large herds of wildebeest and zebras are also part of what you see in the park.

  7. Day 7

    Serengeti → Ngorongoro → Karatu

Early in the morning you drive from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend to the crater floor with your guide. You spend several hours on a game drive between grassland, swamps and the alkaline lake. Lions, elephants, buffalo and wildebeest live here all year round, and there is a good chance you will also see a black rhino. Depending on the water level, flamingos gather on the lake; in the afternoon you continue to Karatu and your accommodation.

  8. Day 8

    Karatu → Arusha → Zanzibar

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye to the wilderness: you fly via Arusha to Zanzibar. At Zanzibar Airport you are picked up and taken to your hotel on the beach. The rest of the day belongs to the sea.

  9. Day 9

    Zanzibar

The first full day on Zanzibar is for relaxing after the safari week. You enjoy the beach in front of your hotel, swim in the Indian Ocean and explore the surroundings on a walk along the water. Excursions for the next few days can be arranged with the team.

  10. Day 10

    Zanzibar

The day is yours; you can stay on the beach and swim. A trip to Stone Town through the narrow lanes and markets of the historic old town is not part of the programme. If you wish, the team can book it for you at extra cost.

  11. Day 11

    Zanzibar

The day is free for you to spend on the beach and by the water. An excursion to the spice gardens where vanilla and cinnamon grow can be booked on request.

  12. Day 12

    Zanzibar

This day is also at your leisure. You can book snorkelling or diving in the Indian Ocean, for example around the Mnemba Island reserve, or a boat trip on a traditional dhow separately.

  13. Day 13

    Zanzibar

The last full day of your honeymoon is free. You enjoy the beach and the sea once more or take another excursion on the island. A dinner for two on the beach is not part of the programme; if you wish, the team will book it for you at extra cost.

  14. Day 14

    Zanzibar

Depending on your departure time, you still have some time on the beach in the morning. Then your transfer takes you to Zanzibar airport and you begin your journey home. This brings your honeymoon in Tanzania to an end.

Nkoaranga Orphanage

The Nkoaranga orphanage at the foot of Mount Meru has existed since 1997; around 30 children up to the age of three live there with 12 carers. Instead of a fixed contribution, Wildfinder Safaris regularly buys supplies for the orphanage: groceries, toiletries and similar items.
