Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kilimanjaro Airport → Tarangire

Your guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro Airport and drive straight to Tarangire National Park with you. The landscape is characterised by mighty baobabs, gentle hills and the Tarangire River. That same afternoon, your first game drive through the park begins, with the chance to see herds of elephants, zebras and giraffes. In the evening you reach your accommodation.

  2. Day 2

    Tarangire

After breakfast you set off with your guide on a full-day game drive. You follow the Tarangire River through the baobab savannah, where particularly large numbers of animals gather in the dry season. Herds of elephants, buffalo, zebras and wildebeest are typical sightings, and with a bit of luck lions or a leopard may join them. At midday there is a picnic in the bush, after which the drive continues.

  3. Day 3

    Tarangire → Arusha → Zanzibar

After breakfast you leave Tarangire and drive back to Arusha. From there, a domestic flight takes you on to Zanzibar, the island in the Indian Ocean. The team will pick you up at Zanzibar airport and take you to your hotel on the beach. The rest of the day is yours.

  4. Day 4

    Stone Town, Zanzibar

The day is yours to spend as you please. You can stay on the beach at your hotel. A trip to Stone Town through the lanes of the old town and across the markets, or a visit to a spice plantation where you learn how vanilla, cinnamon and other spices grow, is not part of the programme. On request, the team will book the excursion for you. It costs extra.

  5. Day 5

    Zanzibar

This day at the beach is yours to spend as you please. You can swim in the Indian Ocean or lie on the white sand. Water sports such as diving, kitesurfing or sailing can be booked separately, depending on the stretch of beach.

  6. Day 6

    Zanzibar

The day is yours to spend as you please. On request, you can add a boat trip to the offshore islands, with snorkelling on the coral reef, time on secluded beaches and a barbecue at lunchtime.

  7. Day 7

    Zanzibar

After breakfast the team picks you up at the hotel and takes you to Zanzibar airport. There you begin your journey home. If you would like to stay longer, the team in Arusha will extend your stay on the island.

Nkoaranga Orphanage

The Nkoaranga orphanage at the foot of Mount Meru has existed since 1997; around 30 children up to the age of three live there with 12 carers. Instead of a fixed contribution, Wildfinder Safaris regularly buys supplies for the orphanage: groceries, toiletries and similar items.
