The Nkoaranga orphanage at the foot of Mount Meru has existed since 1997; around 30 children up to the age of three live there with 12 carers. Instead of a fixed contribution, Wildfinder Safaris regularly buys supplies for the orphanage: groceries, toiletries and similar items.

From around six years old, but younger children can also come along. The team adapts the route and driving times to the age of your children.
How long should the safari last?
Allow 5 to 10 days. One example in this range is the 7-Day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari, which costs from 2,622 USD per person for 4 people in the Classic category. Beach days in Zanzibar can be added afterwards.
Which parks are suitable for a family safari?
Usually Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Which parks fit into your route depends on the time of year and driving times.
Which accommodation is suitable?

What age limits apply to activities?
The treetop walkway in Lake Manyara National Park is open to children from age 5, takes about 1 hour and costs 20 USD per person. For canoeing, the TANAPA park authority’s tariff lists a child rate for ages 5 to 15 (10 instead of 20 USD), and on Kilimanjaro children under 10 may not climb higher than 3,700 m according to park rules. The national parks allow children from age 5 on night game drives and canoeing trips. Some lodges have their own rules and do not take children under 12 on these activities. What does the compulsory insurance cost for children?
Children aged 3 to 17 pay 22 USD, children aged 0 to 2 are free, adults pay 44 USD. For two adults and a 10-year-old child the total is 110 USD, as of October 2026. The insurance is not included in the travel price; every guest takes it out themselves: compulsory insurance for Tanzania and Zanzibar.
How is the daily schedule adapted?
Driving times, breaks and activities depend on your children’s age, interests and pace. Your guide agrees the schedule with you each day.
