Location and Surroundings

The Wildlife Residence is located just outside Arusha in a quiet, rural hilly landscape with views of Mount Meru. Small fields and acacia trees, home to many birds, grow around the property. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to the centre of Arusha and around 45 minutes to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Despite the quiet location, connections to roads and excursion destinations are good. The accommodation therefore works well as a first stop after arrival or as a peaceful finale at the end of a safari.

Arusha is the starting point for many safaris to the national parks of northern Tanzania, and there is a wide choice of accommodation in and around the town. You can find further accommodation in the region on the overview page of lodges in Arusha.

Rooms and Facilities

The six villas and apartments of the Wildlife Residence are generously sized. Each unit has a living room, its own kitchen, a bedroom and a modern bathroom. It also includes a private terrace, and large windows offer views of the greenery. The concept combines the service of a hotel with the independence of an apartment: you can cook for yourself and have plenty of space. This is practical for families and for anyone staying in Arusha for longer.

The main building of the property houses the restaurant, bar and lounge, and there is also a pool. This is where you take your meals, which are arranged around your arrival and departure times. Wi-Fi is available, and if you are travelling with a hire car, there is parking on the grounds. A transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport can be organised on request, which is convenient on the first or last day of your trip.

Nkoaranga Orphanage

The Nkoaranga orphanage at the foot of Mount Meru has existed since 1997; around 30 children up to the age of three live there with 12 carers. Instead of a fixed contribution, Wildfinder Safaris regularly buys supplies for the orphanage: groceries, toiletries and similar items.
